Keep a watchful eye Henry...
Henry's a real outdoor kind of guy

Sunday, May 03, 2009

There's fresh baked cookie smell, new car smell, and of course "Wet Dog" smell. Henry was soaking wet from nose to tail and rather odiferous. I didn't have to heart to tell the old boy that he stunk, but I was sure glad we weren't sharing a tent together that night. I hope he doesn't see this post...Shhhhh

Border Collie On Duty.

It is so much fun having a Border Collie. Henry is always on the look out, always keeping a watchful eye while guarding his herd ...me.

Henry goes camping. WooHoo!

Galena Creek Park is a really fun place to go on a weekday (work is dreadfully slow) especially with fresh snow. I took Henry snowshoeing. I think it was Henry's first time in deep snow, he loved it. There is nothing quite like the quiet beauty of fresh snow in the mountain. I'm not very good at Sierra type forest shots because they all seem to look the same, but I keep trying. I do like the image directly above and bridge photo.

The Big Dump last night consisted of wet & heavy snow, the branches of the pines were straining under the weight. They were ticking time bombs just waiting for the wind to come along & give them a nudge then whoosh a ton of cold wet snow is unleashed on the unsuspecting hiker and his dog. Brrrrrrr....

Here's a few shots of my new hiking partner Henry. I got Henry from the Aussie/ Border Collie Rescue in Minden Nevada. Henry is a 5 month old Border Collie/German Sheppard mix. There are so many good dogs out there in rescues and shelters that need a forever home. If you're looking for a dog PLEASE consider adopting a dog from a rescue or if you looking for a place to make a difference consider being a volunteer or giving a financial gift. I have posted links to Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue & Aussie/Border Collie Rescue (ABC) in the Hot Links section of this blog.
