Wilderness Hunting

A lot of folks believe that Wilderness designation closes the door on hunting, but nothing could be further from the truth. Another issue that concerns some hunters is access to their favorite places once they become Wilderness. Wilderness provides the best habitat that wildlife could have, a place where man is just a visitor. Vehicles are not allowed in Wilderness, but hunters are welcome either on foot or on horseback, sure OHV's aren't permitted, but there are no OHV's to scare your trophy buck away either. A few hunters say they might agree with the idea of Wilderness, but once an area becomes Wilderness it also becomes a private hunting ground for the ranchers who are fortunate enough to have their property next to the Wilderness boundary. Let me dispel that rumor, Wilderness access is not a problem in Nevada, Wilderness Areas they have a boundary road around them and most have a few "cherry stem" roads that provide access. This self portrait was taken by my friend on a successful hunting trip to the Selenite WSA in Northern Nevada.
