Back To Burbank Canyons
It has been over a year since I last went to Burbank. I was very curious to see how the restoration work we did on the creek was doing. Someone had used a bobcat (small tractor) to try and divert the water ...probably to their property. Thankfully someone turned them into the BLM and the "water project" was stopped. The restored area is in the image with the Wilderness sign; it looks great. Friends of Nevada Wilderness, The Sierra Club,Patagonia. and the BLM teamed up on the project in October '05.

Burbank Canyons WSA is the little gem of the Pine Nut Mountains. A rather small WSA (Wilderness Study Area) just 13,000+ acres most of which is located in Douglas County. It is home to mule deer, mountain lions and a group of black bears who always seem to be a half step ahead of me. Burbank is very pristine and wild and consists of three main canyons , Rickey, Burbank, and Red Canyon. My hope for Burbank is Wilderness designation.
