Aspens (Populus tremuloides)

Aspens are my favorite trees, the leaves quiver in any breeze. In autumn the foliage turns a golden yellow, providing an explosion of color that make autumn photographs "pop". The wood is soft and cool to the touch. There is nothing like hiking up to spend some time in the cool shade of an Aspen grove in the middle of July. I even think they're beautiful even without their leaves, as was the case this weekend at Hope Valley....they're still waiting for spring at 7,000ft
