Big Den, Desatoya Mountains, WSA

Big Den is IMHO one of the more spectacular canyons in the Silver State. The Dens look pretty from the road , but one must hike the canyon to appreciate it's real beauty. Rock walls tower high above as you follow the narrowing canyon as it snakes up through wild rose bushes(ouch) to the waterfall. It is a tough hike in the winter, but the frozen waterfall at the canyons head makes it all worth while. Good Stuff!

Big Den is really cool. I like to hike it in the winter, one because I love frozen waterfalls and two, the canyon is protected by wild rose bushes and stinging nettles in the spring/summer(double ouch!.
