Statement as of 3:00 PM PST on December 14, 2008
... Winter Storm Warning now in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to10 PM PST Monday... The Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow is now in effect from 4PM this afternoon to 10 PM PST Monday.* Snow will spread into far western Nevada this evening and continue through most of Monday. * Total snow accumulations through Monday night: 4 to 8 inches... with up to 14 inches in some foothill locations above 5500feet.* Winds: south to southwest 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.* Impacts: visibility will be reduced to less than one mile at times in heavy snow and blowing snow especially in the foothills. Travel will become hazardous on all area roadways including those on the valley floor. The Monday morning and afternoon commutes will be affected. Expect delays and possible Road closures. (NOAA National Weather Service)
... I went up to Rose on Saturday and skied Pondo 15 times; I have to admit it was fun (sorry no photos). Next weekend will be the week to get the first serious turns of the season if this storm rings true.
The best thing is the thirsty Sierra Nevada & the Nevada Backcountry will get a drink...prayers answered...pray for more
